Hello class,

For my blog interview, I interviewed a 6th grade teacher at Hambrick Middle School, named Mr. Harthan. He is a seasoned teacher, who is going on almost 40 years of teaching children. He is from a small town in Pennsylvania, and was not exposed to a lot of multiple languages until later in his career when he moved to Houston. He is not my mentor teacher, but rather, a fellow educator who teaches within my cluster. I admire his hard work and dedication to his craft. That is why I chose to interview him.
During our dialogue, the statement that stood out to me most was that he believes that students create a form of intrinsic motivation through their home life. Ortega states that "when individuals engage in behavior that they understand as self-initiated by choice and largely sustained by inherent enjoyment in the activity." That is what Mr. Harthan was referring to because he stated that if people at home don't push you to learn the language, then you won't learn it. After watcting my interview, you can be the judge of that.
